SHORE SUN DEVILS CODE OF CONDUCT
 

The Shore Sun Devils are committed to providing a competitive, positive and development-focused baseball environment. Players, coaches and families represent the entire organization and are expected to compete hard, respect the game and represent the Shore Sun Devils with class.
 

COACHES

Coaches are expected to set the standard for their teams.

• Put player development, safety and experience first.

• Be prepared, punctual and professional.

• Treat players, families, opponents and officials with respect.

• Follow all league, tournament, roster and eligibility rules.

• Promote competition while maintaining sportsmanship and composure.

• Communicate expectations clearly and consistently.

• Never use illegal substances or appear impaired while responsible for players.

• Conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the Shore Sun Devils.
   

PLAYERS

Wearing a Shore Sun Devils uniform is a privilege.

• Arrive on time, prepared and properly dressed.

• Give consistent effort and be coachable.

• Support your teammates and put the team ahead of yourself.

• Treat coaches, teammates, opponents and officials with respect.

• Win with humility and lose with maturity.

• Control your emotions. Throwing equipment, profanity, bullying or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

• Follow all team and safety rules.

• Represent the Shore Sun Devils appropriately on and off the field.

Compete hard. Be coachable. Be a great teammate. Respect the game.
 

PARENTS & FAMILIES

Parents play an important role in creating the culture of our organization.

• Support the entire team, not just your own player.

• Treat coaches, officials, opponents and other families respectfully.

• Allow coaches to coach and refrain from giving instructions from the stands.

• Never confront or verbally abuse an umpire, coach, player or parent.

• Avoid criticizing coaches or teammates in front of players.

• Respect coaching decisions involving lineups, positions, strategy and playing time.

• Ensure that guests attending games follow the same standards.

• Represent the Shore Sun Devils appropriately at games, tournaments, hotels and other team activities.
   

COMMUNICATION

Questions and disagreements should be handled directly, privately and respectfully.

Except for an immediate health or safety issue, parents should NOT approach coaches immediately before, during or following a game regarding playing time, positions or strategy. Allow for a reasonable cooling-off period and then request a conversation.

If a significant issue cannot be resolved with the team's manager, it may be brought to the Shore Sun Devils Board.
 

ACCOUNTABILITY

Conduct that is detrimental to a team or the Shore Sun Devils organization may result in a warning, suspension or removal from the program depending on the severity of the situation.

Serious misconduct may result in immediate action.
